Villa Solar System Case Study: 15kW + 120kWh System in Kinshasa
Case Study: A Villa Solar System Built for Kinshasa — 15kW + 120kWh Three-Phase Setup for Mohamed’s Villa
Client: Mohamed Location: Kinshasa, DR Congo Property type: Villa System: 15kW / 120kWh three-phase solar + storage system
Background
Mohamed owns a villa in Kinshasa, where two problems are common for properties running significant electrical loads: an unstable grid that puts daily life at risk during outages, and electricity tariffs that make full grid dependence expensive to sustain month over month. A properly sized villa solar system was the option Mohamed looked into to address both problems at once.
Rather than treat these as separate problems to patch individually — a generator for outages, cost-cutting elsewhere for the bill — Mohamed looked for a system that could address both at once: solar generation to cut grid dependence, paired with enough storage to keep the villa running through outages without switching over to a backup generator.
He came to Coolienergy for a system sized to actual demand rather than a small residential package, with a request for both the equipment and the installation to be handled as a single project.

The System
Coolienergy configured a 15kW three-phase system built by paralleling three 5kW inverters, paired with eight 16kWh storage batteries for a total usable storage capacity of 120kWh.
Why this configuration:
- Three-phase parallel inverter setup — Rather than deploying a single large three-phase unit, three 5kW inverters were paralleled to reach the 15kW output. This gives the property built-in redundancy: if one inverter needs servicing, the other two can continue carrying a reduced load rather than taking the whole system offline.
- 8 x 16kWh battery bank — At 120kWh combined capacity, the storage bank is sized to carry the villa through extended outages or evening/overnight loads, not just short dips in grid supply.
Delivery and Installation
The project was completed on-site over three days:
- Day 1 — Transport: Equipment (インバータ, 電池, ソーラーパネル, and balance-of-system components) was transported to the villa in Kinshasa.
- Day 2 — Solar panel installation: The solar panel array was mounted and wired.
- Day 3 — Battery connection and testing: All eight 16kWh batteries were connected, the full three-phase system was wired together, and the system was tested end-to-end before handover.
Each stage was documented with on-site photos, giving a visual record of the transport, panel mounting, and final battery/testing setup.
Testing and Results
After installation, the system was put through testing before handover. It passed without issues, and the three-phase parallel inverter setup performed as designed under load.
Mohamed reported that he was satisfied with the outcome, from equipment performance to the installation process itself.
Investment
Pricing on a system like this depends on order volume:
- 5kW inverters: US$337–426 それぞれ, depending on quantity ordered
- 16kWh storage batteries: US$1,519–1,918 それぞれ, depending on quantity ordered
For Mohamed’s configuration (3 インバータ + 8 電池), the exact total will fall within that per-unit range multiplied by quantity — buyers ordering in bulk land toward the lower end of each bracket.
Why This Villa Solar System Setup Makes Sense
For villa owners on grids prone to outages — Kinshasa being one example, but the same logic applies anywhere grid reliability is inconsistent — this villa solar system is a reasonable reference point for sizing a solar + storage setup to real household loads rather than guessing. The 120kWh storage bank is what lets a property like Mohamed’s ride through an outage on stored power instead of falling back on a diesel generator, while the solar side works to bring down the grid bill during normal operation. The parallel-inverter approach is worth highlighting too, for any owner concerned about single-point-of-failure risk in a system this size.
Coolienergy supplies and installs three-phase solar and storage systems for villas and commercial properties.
